Nick Dovel

Self-taught, two-time winner of the Libertyville Firefighter Rib cook off, Nick Dovel is no stranger to the kitchen, grills, or smokers. Whether in the firehouse kitchen or competing in local BBQ competitions, Nick brings not only the fun, but flavors that are guaranteed to wake up and excite your taste buds. He has competed in the Kansas City Barbecue Society Competitions since 2018 and most recently was featured on Chicago Fox 32, Heating up the Kitchen. Working as a full-time firefighter paramedic with the Lake Forest Fire Department in Lake Forest, Illinois, Nick holds a Bachelor’s in Emergency Management and a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership. Although both his academic degrees are outside culinary arts he has taken many culinary classes in order to fine tune his culinary skills.
